Description: WFAA Channel 8 Dallas newscast at 10 pm on November 14, 1985, with Tracy Rowlett, John Criswell, Troy Dungan, and Dale Hansen. This leads out from ABC 20/20, spans a Yamaha, Whataburger, and Safeway commercial, and covers about 3 minutes of the newscast with a special story from Jane Peterson. Contains first sets of bumps and commercial breaks, skips weathercast, and goes to first minute of Dale Hansen sports, then closing credits. You can see lots of use of the Chyron character generator, which was a mainstay of the late 1970s and 1980s. During the last few seconds (closing credits) you can also see an artifact at the screen corners caused by the wide-angle lens on the studio's Ikegami cameras.

From 1984 to 1991 WFAA used the highly successful "Spirit" theme music campaign by TM Productions, customized for WFAA as "Spirit of Texas", with voiceover talent from John B. Wells. Ironically from 1996 to present they went to Stephen Arnold Music for their music, the ones who penned KXAS-5's 1980s news music.
