Description: Self improvement is the basis of community development. We have many (at least 20) impediments to self improvement that we need to overcome. Many of these impediments are seen as part of what makes a black person black! They are seen as natural characteristics of black organisations. 'Oh this is how we are!' In truth, they are rationales that we use to divorce ourselves from our organisations and our families. It is a negative programming that we have received, that immobilises us from the natural struggle of the life cycle. All the various aspects of our being can be described as fractions. Each part or fraction is just a part, which is related to the whole. Each part cannot 'be', without the whole. When we recognise this, that we are not whole, we will be able to be more patient with our selves, our development, and with each other. Patience is crucial if we are to continue upward instead of downward in our life cycle.

When we don't have balance of the two, we can cause a lot of damage in the very people we are trying to help. It takes both male and female attributes to overcome shaitan. Shaitan is the phantom menace. He works to keep male fighting against female. He keeps the two sexes thinking that their own way is right, and the other is wrong. In the resultant battle of the sexes, the whole family, community and nation are the loses. The Scripture teaches us that the male and the female are not alike. We should celebrate this and accept our own.
