Description: A Product based on a Lighting Switch, according to British Standards has to withstand 40,000 Cycles of 25% on and 75% off.Compling to the given Brief has to be accomplished inteh quiest amount of time. Therefore one on/off cycle could be 2 seconds at 0.5 seconds on and 1.5 seconds off a ratio of 25:75.for 40,000 cycles this equates to 22 hours and 12 minutes of fun!To ensure the cycles was completed in a safe as posible way, safety features were included.A PICAxes18X was used, programmes in to count the number of cycles and to stop testing when reaching the 40,000 cycle, the safety features included:- calibrating a theristor and placing it inside the switch, so when hot the switchtest would end.- if at any point the circuit was producing more then 1Amp the test would end- also if the counter stopped counting the test would end.hint: if testing ear plugs would be an idea!
