Description: Note: New and improved edit of Why Walk is now up on my channel after ten days of hard work, nail biting and intercontinental communications.Peace Walker is a hybrid film and the story of two journeys that took place during a real 1100 walk through the entire United Kingdom this summer.Originally inspired by Peace Pilgrim, a woman who walked for peace for 28 years, director Tara Golden concieved of the idea of a film that would combine a narrative story line and a documentary journey. The idea was to mix the powerful story of a man who does a peace walk with the real life adventure of walking every step of way through Scotland and England. The plan was to meet interesting local charactors along the 1100 mile hike and to integrate them into the story, and it worked up until a point.The hike started well in John O'Groats on June 5th but along the way we faced conflict, creative differences and a car accident. Two crew members decided not to go on further than Glasgow. With only two of us left we found that we were not able to make the film as planned and restructured the film as a documentary.The film evolved into the intertwining of the two journeys. Ray has the spiritual adventure of taking the steps to a life of service. The walk of Tara and Chase was the challenging day to day reality of the real problems and people we encountered along the way.Additional clips from the film can be found on our channel. Some are documentary, some are narrative. They are presented to you here in a collage form but will be interwined in the final film.

Description: Unsure and alone, Ray travels to Scotland to take the first steps of his peace pilgrimage. Music composed by Rhett Brewer.Production notes: Scenes in the airport were our first shots of the film. A wheelchair was used as a dolly on the shot of Chase walking through the airport. Sunny was a colorful charactor at the bus stop that we immediately wanted to work with on sight.We shot from the back of the bus and Danny followed us in the van. Tara left her cell phone on the bus and a high speed chase north after the bus followed.

Description: Ray stops to talk to Kiwi Bob on his walk through Golspie in northern Scotland.Production notes: At a sheep nipple supply store( really) Tara got a referral to Golspie Mill. We were seeking a free place to stay for our crew of four and possibly shoot. It was lucky when we were sent to Bob and Becky, with their gorgeous mill. After a great meal and a fun time, Tara decided to cast Bob as Brian's friend.The scene was shot the next morning in two takes because Chase needed to get started on a 20 mile hiking day and Bob had to get to work.Music is Return Of The Soldier by Rhett Brewer.Thank you for your comments.
