But a few prints survived, hidden away. This shows him and his partner Alla Sizova at the Moscow Ballet Competition in 1958. They were both pupils at the Vaganova School in Leningrad, in their graduation year. Needless to say, they won the Competition!Sequence features Russian commentary as follows:'Now we see a classic duet from the ballet 'Le Corsaire' by Drigo performed by two graduates from the Leningrad Ballet School, Sizova and Nureyev. Nureyev, Bashkir by birth first showed his talent at a local ballet group, which recommended him to study in Leningrad. He was presented with an opportunity to attain excelence in the art of ballet. Nureyev performs a variation. The young artist expresses great power and vitality; his spins are particulary impressive. Sizova performs a variation from the ballet 'Le Corsaire'.
