Sinners in the hands of an Angry God by the Angry Quaker
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, is by far one of the most notorious of all the fire and brimstone, hellfire and damnation sermons, it was initially preached by Jonathan Edwards, a prominent pompous Puritan prick/minister, in Enfield, Connecticut, in the year of 1741. As was customary in 18th century New England, the propaganda/sermon was printed and copies were distributed to an extensive audience. It was the first and most enduring expression of the pigheaded Calvinist dogma of the Great Awakening. After its initial presentation, the audience was so terrified that many were found openly crying. There were also a number of reports of swooning, outcries and convulsions from audience members. It was also reported that, unlike the stereotypical fire and brimstone preaching, Edwards read the sermon as if he was Ben Stein in a creepy monotone voice, and actually asked the audience to quiet down so he might finish his sermon. Here are just a few excerpts from Sinners in the hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards." God certainly has made no promises either of eternal life, or of any deliverance or preservation from eternal death, but what are contained in the covenant of grace, the promises that are given in Christ, in whom all the promises are yea and amen. But surely they have no interest in the promises of the covenant of grace who are not the children of the covenant, who do not believe in any of the promises, and have no interest in the Mediator of the covenant...
