Pepsi Can Stove
Pepsi can stove I made a while back. Here I use HEET as fuel, but denatured alcohol is best. HEET is simply more readily available out in BFE. Regular rubbing alcohol is okay in a pinch - 91% is better than 70%, but 70% will work if that's all you have. It just won't burn as well. Avoid the scented stuff, that's just unnecessary chemicals that must be burned.PCTHiker.com has the instructions on how to make this model. There are many other kinds out there via a search on Google. An alcohol flame from this is impossible to see in the light. So when you light yours up and see nothing, don't go sticking your hands or face in there. Trust me, it's burning. Also, don't try to put one of these flames out by blowing on it, or snuffing it. That's just in no way shape or form a good tactic. Simply wait for it to burn out. These also make excellent warmer stoves in the winter. I really advise against using them in your tent to keep you warm - that's just a tragedy waiting to happen, and a good way to make the evening news as safety experts use your example as what not to do when you're cold.My standard disclaimer: You're responsible for your own behavior. If you make one of these and set your hair on fire, it's your own fault.
