Just some thoughts in regards to "I" Channel The internet as a barrier between reality and fiction, We can say and do things to be how we wish we were, edit out the bad parts and present ourselves as a finished piece of "art" Personal videos a metaphor for plastic surgery, make up, even "style" but it goes even further to be a buffer for one's personality. So then are "youtube" video's depictions of real people or rather how they want to be perceived by others."I" stops being himself. He is inhibited. People are imposing themselves, their opinions and thoughts, into "I's" life. In this case it is unwanted. For example when you are waiting in line at the bank, there are cameras, I hate that, it makes me really uncomfortable because something is watching me for "my own safety" of for the "safety" of the workers. How did we come along and survive for so long before the invention of cameras? They go even a step further in "I's" experience and are commenting on his every move. My first thought is why are these people not getting their own lives? Should "I" be so worried about what people who clearly don't have better things to do in their own lives but to comment on his? One time I got into a conversation with a woman and we were discussing tattoos and my fear of getting one because I would be permanently marked and easier to identify say perhaps if I wanted to go to a political protest or something. Anyhow, her response was "If "big brother" wants to watch me I am going to dance either way" or something to that extent. And why not? Fear, fear of what people think stops I would say a good 80% of the population. With youtube you can however do what you want and blame it on, a silly moment, bad editing, or you can hide behind just not showing your face and giving incorrect information. Just as a person can blame bad behavior on being drunk or stoned or lets say how the KKK wore/wears their uniform to hide their true identity. Some of the comments that people make on others videos are crude, racist and ugly. These people feel they can say what they want on the internet and then hide behind their monitor(s) which equal their barrier/mask/uniform.I think that the "I Channel" is bringing forth some great ideas and challenging people to think a bit more of what "youtube" is and how it contributes to or enhances or works in peoples lives. Just as most things in life it can be used for good, which is enhancing peoples lives by challenging them, giving them new perspectives, or over all educating them. Or for bad, which I would say is sharing hatred, showing people at their worst or embarrassing moments and just plain ugly smut. (whatever you despise or find offensive) for me it would be exploitation and objectification of people, to put it generally. So then the "I" channel is bringing forth these issues, or is a doorway to think about/discuss these issues, and is quit entertaining at the same time. So thank you to the people who are responsible for this channel and group. And to all the other people that may be reading this, lets continue to broaden ourselves by using this medium of communication to bring some more good to this world. (yea for positive thinking) Anyways, thanks for reading! *NOTE* To those people who feel the need to comment to videos in such a manor as "you suck, what was this shit, you are ugly" Please tell me why you feel the need to highlight your inadequacies such as an inability to think or even come up with something worth while or intelligent to say? I have never understood those people. Why not just keep your mouth shut or your comments to yourself? It is really sad that even in this day where it is possible to enlighten ones self, that people willingly and blatantly continue to keep themselves in the "dark" by choosing to be ignorant.
