We took the aria "On with the motley" from the opera by Leoncavallo and stylised it a bit for this 4 minute film for BBC2 and Pascavision. The story of Pagliacci is very much the stuff of opera's most dramatic plots. Pagliacci the clown is betrayed by his wife Columbine and he exacts a grim revenge upon her - until at last her ghost returns to make amends.The film used puppet and drawn animation, was produced by Glenn Holberton, and directed and animated by Ken Lidster.© Pascavision
