You couldnt find a more tasteful player to emulate than Bruce Bouton guys. Simplicity is the key to keeping the mood, or personality of a country song. There is a time and a place for playing "lightning licks" and it impresses us all. But the real strength of the steel guitar is coloring the melody line...keeping the mood. Bruce is a master at this..He doesnt know this, but I knew Bobby Hicks, the steel player in Rickys band, and I once sat and watched the band from backstage, and my attention was on Bruce the whole time. I didnt get to meet him, becuase I was a guitar player...so I hung out with Ray Flacke..LOL. These guys are such incredible talents and inspirations to us. The singer was the star, but I promise you, without guys Like Bruce, Bobby and Ray to make them look good....Well...nuff said...Bruce was then, and still is a great steel player...enjoy
