Chapter 3Nick [concerned]: Julie, what's up? You sound like you've been crying.Julie: Probably because I have. Nick: Well, why are you telling me? Shouldn't you talk to your boyfriend? Julie [confused]: Huh? Nick: You know, the guy who saw us hugging... he said you were his girlfriend.Julie: Oh, you mean Nat a.k.a the Biggest Loser in the World?Nick: Um, yeah...Julie: He wouldn't know a girlfriend if she slapped him in the face.Nick: So, you're not going together?Julie: Absolutely not! I hate that guy with every fiber of my being! He's such a jerk!Julie started crying again. She hated Nat and got upset every time his name cameup because he stomped on her heart and didn't seem to care.Nick tried to calm her down. He didn't want to have her sad. So he said, "I'm sure he is. Any guy who would want to make a great, sweet, beautiful girl like you cry is a jerk. I don't know why anyone would want to hurt you."Julie [stopped crying]: Aww, Nick, that's really sweet. Just that helped be feel so much better. Thank you.Nick: Your welcome, I'm just glad you feel better.Julie: Still, it was nice to hear. I never heard anything like that from Nat.Nick: So what did Nat do that made you so upset?Julie: Please, don't say his name. Haven't you ever heard the saying, 'Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear'?Nick laughed and so did Julie. After about thirty seconds of laughter, Nick realized she didn't answer his question.Nick: So, what did Na—I mean he do that hurt your feelings?Julie: Oh, sorry, I forgot. Well, when we went out he treated me like a friend. When I told him that, he got mad at me. Then, he felt bad for flipping out so he tried to make it up to me by buying me crap.Nick: Oh. Wow. Did he ever even say sorry? I mean literally say sorry?Julie: Nope. Not once. Unless you count the one he just did a few minutes ago, then one time, yeah. But it's been a month since I broke up with him and now, today, he decided to 'apologize' for the first time. Plus, he thinks I'm going to forgive him just because he flew across the country to see me.Nick [panicked]: Are you!? Julie: NO!Nick: Okay good.Julie: Why 'good'?Nick [thinking quickly]: Uh, I just don't want him to break your heart again.Julie: Oh, um, okay.Nick [nervous]: Anyway, if you're not busy, would you like to come over here and go swimming?Julie: I'd love to.Nick: Great! Grab you swim gear and I'll be over in 10 minutes!Julie: Why come over? You're my next-door neighbor.Nick: I know, but I thought it would be polite.Julie: Okay, I'll let you be polite. But, I have to get ready now.Nick: Okay, bye.Julie: Bye.They hung up and Julie jumped off her bed started dancing. Then, she ran to her closet to get her bikini and beach bag.Nick got up from his bed and did the 'yes' motion while doing a little spin. Then he started toward the laundry room for his swim shorts, leaving his brothers in his bedroom, obviously confused.
