Keith & Warren - 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'
23 March 2007, Borders, Costa Mesa, CA.Note Keith's fingerstyle arrangement, if my guitar isn't completely obscuring it. Keith's dropped this song a fourth, from Am to Em, to suit his voice better. I've worked up two alternative ways to play the basic chord progression.Probably a best-ever effort for me, and a very good performance for Keith too, I believe. This song is probably the scariest for me of the whole K&W portfolio, just because of the the two solos... which really should have a lot of EC-like string bending going on. I all but lost the technique for full-step bends several years ago, but attempting the solos for this song has brought it back, more or less. It's still a bit of a challenge to actually hit the target pitch... too much anxiety causes me to overshoot or undershoot, regularly... as you may notice... though it's usually a lot worse than this...The first solo here is one of the best I've ever managed, despite the relative lack of bends, and despite launching into it from an accidentally unfamiliar starting point. It's completely off-the-cuff, unlike the second solo, which corresponds roughly to two or three simple little ideas about what happens when.Jim & Warren do this song too, though have yet to pull off a reading worth preserving.Words and music by George Harrison, RIP. http://KeithandWarren.comhttp://warren-allen.comRecorded as MPEG4 video with Casio EX-S770 still camera.
