For the past five months the new bridge deck has been under construction next to I-215 and the 4500 South northbound off-ramp. On Saturday, October 27 at 8 a.m., the old bridge deck will be removed using an self propelled modular transporter (remote controlled moving vehicle). The new bridge deck will be put into place on Sunday, October 28 at 11 a.m. using the same method. These activities have been designated by the Federal Highway Administration as a Showcase Event with national significance, and the public is invited to attend.Parking is available in the Churchill Jr. High parking lot at 3450 East Oakview Dr., just east of Wasatch Blvd. Viewing areas are available along the west side of Wasatch Blvd. and vehicles will not be allowed to park along the roadway. Viewing will be prohibited on the Churchill pedestrian bridge as this structure is being retrofitted and cannot safely accommodate the weight of spectators at this time.
