Magneto MVC2 sample combos
just messing around to see if I could still do Magneto's infinite with the lame PS3 controller. It was hard enough with the ps2 controller. Not really a serious vid, could come up with even more interesting combos but meh...take it as a preview for what I might do in the future. ;)Ok I had somebody ask how to do Mag's Rom Infinite so I'm going to explain how to do it with the PS2 or PS3 controller. If you are using a arcade pad of course you would modify some of the Xs to match weak kick and medium kick, etc.Ok, I'm assuming you're trying to do it with the ps2 controller. Alright, lets go from your standard launcher with Mags which is going to be down X and then down Triangle. That will launch them into the air and of course you'll follow with a Super Jump. From there you want to press either hard punch/kick which on the ps2 controller will be circle or triangle...I prefer the hardkick/circle. This will make the enemy start to move back toward the ground. Here's the tricky part, as soon as you kick them towards the ground you will have to use Mags air dash in order to catch up to them. On the ps2 controller this is performed by pressing R1. So press R1 and down and toward the enemy. Before the enemy hits the ground you need to press X twice which will get them in a postion to where you can rejump and catch them in the air. So, so far you have this command to get them into the infinite position. Down X, Down Triangle, SuperJump, Circle, AirDash/Down Forward (R1/Down Forward), and then X, X. Remember to time it so with the final attack they're in position still in the air and allows time for you to catch up to them before they hit the ground. I'd practice this part a bit before you get to the next part.Ok, now for the next part of the infinite. Its going to take a bit to get used to this part of the infinite, as the set up is rather easy compared to maintaining this part. I'll start with the commands you'll be doing from the setup above. Alright, as soon as you land from the setup the enemy will be in the air a bit above you. As magneto lands you'll be inputing this, down,up (that's a Super Jump command), X, X, R1 Down Forward (Air Dash remember), X, X. This is the part you'll be repeating and is the "infinite" section of the combo. The Air Dash basically resets Magneto's Magic series, allowing you to get in extra kicks as if you were doing a regular double combo in the air going upward. Except you're using it this time to keep the enemy in a position to where you can keep going almost infinitely. The tricky part with this is the beginning with the Super Jump, and the ending timing the last kick so that the character isn't too far upward for Mags to catch up with them, or too close to the ground for Mags to continue the infinite. Here's what I do. You're going to have to learn to buffer the super jump almost as soon as you press the last kick in the setup part of this combo press down, up. This is the part that used to trip me up as I used to wait until Mags landed and then did the SJ which would cause my kicks to overshoot the opponent. So learn to buffer the SJ, and you'll connect each time. For the second tricky part, you're going to have to learn the timing and remember the infinite as a rhythm so that you can continue it. For lighter characters after doing the SJ, X,X, Air Dash DF, X you will want to pause after the third X and let them float a bit towards the ground before performing the last X to keep them in the air. For the sentinel however you don't have to really worry about the timing and can go at whatever speed you like, which is why I like comboing him hehe. Basically short of doing a video, this is how you do the Rom infinite on the ps2. You'll have to spend sometime mastering it. Remember that each time you do a SJ for this repeated part of the combo you should buffer it so that the initial start kicks of the infinite will connect. Here's the entire combo including the set up. Down X, Down Triangle, Super Jump, Circle, Air Dash Down Forward (R1 Down Forward), X, X, [SJ (Remember to buffer this in), X, X, Air Dash Down Forward (R1 Down Forward), X, X (Remember to delay the last X according to the character weight).] Repeat the last part in brackets. The thing that's really dangerous about Magneto, is that once you get used to this combo its so flexible that you can combo into both of his supers from it, and you can easily call in assists while doing the combo also. His infinite is easily the best in the game, especially for the console versions where it's a bit harder to get off commands unless you're using an arcade pad.
