Original Music Video With This Perfect Day's "It's A Shame". This video has an interview clip with Bob Dylan, and a snippet from the Oliver Stone movie "The Doors". I've changed the Dylan interview clip so it's not a uniform black and white. The interviewers are in stark black and white suggesting that they see the world in black and white terms. Dylan is in muted shades of gray, because he sees the world in shades of gray. The sheep are meant to suggest the conformist nature of most of the population. We often think of ourselves as maverick individualists, but just look at the content on YouTube or the music charts. The model walks across the screen in a red dress three times with the subtitles "mourning veer", "daytime veer" and "evening veer" Veer=wear spoken with a communist block accent to suggest a conformist attitude. "Veer" might also suggest veering off course...at least that's what I meant it to suggest. Moving on, the picture of Jesus Christ and Buddha in the lens of the camera can be viewed as a reflection of the subjects in the photo shoot. It's meant to suggest that celebrities have become almost like religious figures in our culture, now that religion isn't as central in people's lives. The clip of Jim Morrison screaming is meant to suggest the angst some feel with the situation in which we find ourselves or the glorification of the modern day "earnest" confessional...well, these are some of the things I'm thinking.
