lasagna Recipe:and Red velvet cake RecipeLasagna: 1# ground sirloin 1 pckg itallian sausage 4 or 5 links 1 med onion 1 garlic clove chopped 1/2 cup chopped parsley 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs one egg 3 tbs dry red wine 2 tbs tomato paste 3 tbs itallain seasoning pepper salt -not too much( sausage has a lot)combine, ball up, coat with flour, saute in olive oil with 1 med chopped onion. till all sides are browned. add to sauce( 2 large cans hunts tomato sauce, 1 large can whole tomatoes, 1 large can diced tomatoes)cook for 3 hours on low refridgerate 1 day, then pull out meat balls, now you have sauce to build lasagna and sauce to top over portion at servingCOMBINE:2 cups ricotta cheese, 1 egg, 1/4 cup grated fresh parmeseancook lasagna noodles aldente( soft yet firm)Now assemble in layers: 1 cup sauce 4 noodles 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture 1 cup sauce 1/2 of crumbled meatballs 2/3 cup motzerella cheese REpeat top with noodles then sprinlke with parmesean and motzerellabake at 350 covered in foil 30 minutes, then uncovered 15 minutes.let sit 15 minutes cut out a square and top with that good sauce!Bon Appetite!Red Velvet Cake:1/2 cup Shortening1 1/2 cup Sugar2 Eggs2 ounces Red food coloring2 tablespoons Cocoa -- heaping2 1/4 cups Plain flour1 teaspoon Salt1 teaspoon Vanilla1 teaspoon Baking soda1 cup Buttermilk1 tablespoon Vinegar1 teaspoon Butter Flavoring (if desired)***Frosting***3 tablespoons Flour1 cup Butter (Not Margarine- you can tell the difference in the flavor).1 teaspoon Vanilla1 cup Milk1 cup granulated sugar directions:Cream Shortening, sugar and eggs. Make a paste with coloring and cocoa and add to mixture. Add salt and flour with buttermilk and vanilla. Alternately add soda and vinegar and don't beat- just blend. Bake in two 9-inch pans (greased and floured) for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Layers may be split to make four. *I imagine you could use a single layer flat pan instead of 2 round ones- I've not done it before. Frosting: Cook flour and milk on low heat until thick. Then cool (I put it in the freezer for this.). Cream sugar, butter, and vanilla until fluffy. Add to flour-milk mixture. Beat until mixture is like whipped cream.
