Diao Chan: DW5 XL Chaos Mode: Battle of Xia Pi
Here's what I decided to do for Diao Chan's maximization. I can't seem to find a good way to not get hit with her. Although, it's really too big of a deal because it's super easy to get into red health with her, and then her red health fighting with this weapon is just cheap. Since there's no real way to avoid hits with her (I guess we'll assume that for now), I've decided to maximize her with a heavy weapon, for the non-flinching ability. This makes all of her attacks safer, and makes it much easier for her to get into red health. Her offense of course is also maximized. No matter what I do, her short reach makes it almost impossible to go completely untouched. With a heavy weapon, having no musou, attack, fill and charge, her musou filling ability is completely maximized. The Ginseng is also a good fifth item to have on her, but I chose the Dragon Arms because I think it makes it a lot easier for her to fill her musou. Being able to do her jump charge in the middle of her charge attacks (mainly C3) means a lot for flexibility. She's able to jump out of her C3 whenever you want, and as seen against Zhang Fei, being able to get into an officer's face after her C6, is very useful. I'm glad that I was able to show this combo in this video against a playable officer. Make sure the distance calculation is right, and you have a 60% chance to kill him in one musou. But what's most important with the benefits of giving her the Dragon Arms, is the ability to almost guarantee successful musous on an officer, regardless of blocking, since her jump charge is perfect to get her right behind blocking officers.Missing, on this weapon, is Life, and perhaps Speed.Hmmm...I dont have this in the guide. I might want to include it. But it's there...it's just glossed over I believe. But here's I think the most defensive way to use her. Lets look at her C3. Well before that, you must know that her second normal attack covers only her right side. Attacking while facing straight ahead, with this attack and using her C3, is pretty risky. The range of this attack is roughly 180 degrees, so turn to the left a bit when executing it to maximize the range. Ok, her C3: If we do a short C3, she has only one vertical attack in the whole string of 6 strikes, and about two spots where she lags a bit. It is the fourth strike that is vertical. Although it's vertical, it does cover front and back, but still the point is, this strike is risky. So I think the best way to maximize her defense, is use her C3, while positioning her second normal attack properly, but jump out of her C3 after the third strike, or in other words, her first C3 strike. This gives her three horizontal strikes in a row, with a slight lag before the third one. This should fill a good chunk of her musou bar. After that, her jump charge should fill the rest easily, and this method should work in a large range of crowd sizes. Thus, her musou filling method is very similar to Taishi Ci's....just less defensive. If you use only her normal attacks, it would seem that it's better because all of her normal attacks have very protective range, but using her C3 is better, because she can guarantee a successful musou on officers, while with her normal attacks, she doesn't have a lot of choices if and officer is blocking.
