Mean GirlsMean Girls AMV: Thank You
Is it me or have you notice how the media only addresses gaming issues that have no barring on how our state legislators have given Pa. gaming operators car-blanch to destroy individuals and families. And it's hard for me to believe that they're clueless on how this so-called entertainment industry operates, but then again you couldn't find enough gaming knowledge from those who brought gaming upon us along with those who now govern are casinos to fill a thimble. So how about instead of investigating and writing about what would've, could've, should've been in place before the fleecing began how about the media looking into the real scam on Pennsylvanians, and that's the simple fact that our casinos are operating with no safeguards or provisions to protect our love ones from becoming casino gambling degenerates. In other words, there is no consumer protection. Now those who produced our gambling bill along with our Gaming Control Board insist there are a number of safeguards and provisions that address compulsive gambling. Things like pamphlets and posters to educate about gambling addiction and signs posted throughout the casinos with the 1-800 GAMBLER get help number and a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week hotline that provides crisis counseling, along with a self-exclusion program that problem gamblers can put themselves on. But these safeguards and provisions address the obsessive gambling problem after one becomes addicted, so my question is, why wait until someone gets addicted? Now is the time to make our billion dollar casino operators adapt to real safeguards that will protect today's and future generations who now live a short distance from a casino from picking up this bad habit. Things like not cashing any checks, (Pa. casinos can cash five personal checks up to $499.00 each in a 24-hour period, and will cash them all at one time) and so patrons don't gamble on credit in any manner take away any type of credit card usage including "ATMs." No free booze, (Pa. casinos are aloud to serve free alcoholic beverages on the casino floor) No 24/7 (If you want to see pathological gambling in full bloom, take a stroll through our casinos during those early morning hours) And beings our gaming hall operators are tracking their patrons money and time spent gambling with COMP-CARDS, let's make them send monthly statements. The COMP-CARD is their syringe; it's how they deliver their drug. These cards track every move the patron makes in the casino it's what determines whether you're going to get the buffet or the penthouse suite. The comps or so-called freebies make some justify their losses as they become addicted.
