His first victim is Kurou Otoharada, a man who has killed several people and then Shibuimaru Takuo, a rapist. When Ryuk appears to Light, he is more convinced that he has the real deal and decides to create a crime-free moral world by killing all the unwanted.Rating: ★★★★★Episode DetailsBoth Ryuk, a shinigami, and Yagami Light, a human, are not happy with their routine worlds. While in class, Light sees the "Death Note", a notebook, fall from the sky. He recovers it after school and reads the directions - whoever's name is written on the pages will die. Although he thinks it is a sick joke, he takes the notebook home with him. The other instructions indicate that the death wish will not take effect unless the person's face is pictured while writing the name (so people with the same name will not be affected) and that the cause of death must be written in the following 40 seconds or else the person will die of a heart attack. When the TV news announces that Kurou Otoharada has killed six people and taken eight nursery school children hostage, Light writes the man's name and waits. After about 40 seconds, the news reporter announces that Kurou collapsed and died. Light is still skeptical and wants to test the notebook more.At his cram school, Light decides not to test the notebook against Sudou, a bully, because there is a tie between their names. When he heads home, he realizes that there are many people that the world would be better without. He sees a few bikers, led by Shibuimaru Takuo, corner a girl. He goes into the convenience store nearby and writes the man's name and death by traffic accident. When the girl breaks free, Shibuimaro chases after her and gets hit by a truck. Light now believes that the notebook has power. You thought I chose you because you're smart or something? RyukDown in Hell, Ryuk tells the other shinigami that he dropped his notebook is in the human world. They tell him to retrieve it and he is eager to see what his mistake has created. Light returns home and reports that he has placed first in the national exam. While his mother prepares dinner, he returns to him room to write more names into the notebook. Ryuk, who has been watching Light, introduces himself, although Light is not very surprised to see him. After Ryuk appears, Light is more confident that he has a real death notebook and is ready for anything. Ryuk says that the notebook belongs to Light now and says that he can give the notebook to anyone else. However, he reminds Light that when it is his turn to die, Ryuk will write his name and that he cannot go to Heaven or Hell.Light's mother knocks on the door and gives him some apples. After she leaves, Ryuk explains that she cannot see him because she has not touched the notebook. He then eats the apples, enjoying the taste. He says that Light was not chosen - he simply dropped the notebook on Earth because he was bored and shinigami do not have a lot to do these days. He asks why Light wrote so many names without the cause of death. Light points out that if all the criminals die too quickly, the police will notice. He believes that someone needs to clean up the world and get rid of all the useless people in it. After all the major criminals die, his next targets are immoral people and eventually, the world will become a better place that he can rule over.I am in no way claiming to own the Death Note series in any way.
