This is a bit boring but then all city transit rides have a bit of "is it over yet?" to them. Pretend you are going home from work or something and you can't leave :-)We are on the S-Bahn Line 2 in 1988 in West Berlin and we've just left the S-Bahn station Gesundbrunnen, past the (then) shut down station Bornholmer Str., in the direction of Frohnau. This line actually went for a stretch _under_ East Berlin and we've in fact left the eastern sector a couple of minutes ago. (I'll post a short snippet later of what the descent into the tunnel in Humboldthain looked like, more or less.) But here we are going to continue next to the wall for quite a while. Past Bornholmer Str. we catch a glimpse of an S-Bahn in East Berlin - this line now connects to the line we are on but back then it was totally separated by the wall.In some places the wall is quite narrow with houses in the East next to it. In other places we can catch a glimpse of allotment gardens near the wall on the western side. And then a factory which doesn't seem like it changed much since 1906.
