Handmade Natural Trumpet
Materials:Bugle (made in china, $20)Copper pipes for air conditioner (3/8, ~250 cm, $10)Wood block (recycle)Tieback & Tassle ($10) I love baroque trumpet music, but I was not sure wheather I could play natural trumpet. So I approached by cheap trial with handmade my owns. At first, bugle was cut to get hard-to-make parts by myself such as bell, curves... etc. I cut the copper pipes to appropriate lengths. And then joint was soldered or fixed with insulating tube which shrinks by heating. This gives not enough strength but it is air-tight and very easy to do by oneself. Pipes were held together with tieback by method described in Barclay's 'The Art of Baroque Trumpet Makers' and result was satisfactory: secure fixing and good appearance. Without valves, I could play some notes while sound is not good. Anyway, I got the answer I wanted. Then, let's make lots of money for Egger! :(
