flea plays trumpetjosh klinghoffer plays bassFleamail March 8, 2007From: Michael BalzarySent: Thursday, March 08, 2007 3:21 AMTo: members@redhotchilipeppers.comSubject:we played houston tonight and san antonio the night beforehad a great jam at the end of the show tonight in houstonour friend josh kinghoffer jammed with us and it was a psychedelicexperiencewhoo weetonight was the last night that we played with gnarls barkleyit was great to play with themthey had a great feeling about themand a beautiful and unique kind of musicthat cee lo really owns the stage and holds it downwe are lucky to play with great artistslove is a many splendored thingwhen i drove up to the show i met 2 nice girls who has big angelswings on that they made out of cardboard and newpaperthere names were carla and angelique and i got them into the showi hope they had fun because they were glowing with goodnessnow i am siting in the hotel roomand my wife and baby are sleeping and im gonna go to sleepit is gonna be greatthe beauty of a warm bedahh the great beautylife is goodi am reading 'standing on the shoulders of giants' by kareem abduljabaarit is a history book about the harlem renaissance which took place inthe 20's in harlem in new york in the united statesit was an incredible explosion of art and culture that happened fora lot of reasonsgreat writers...........some of it i knew about i and a lot i didnt it is so much fun and soinspiring to read aboutsometimes a guy can be proud to be a human beingwhen i finish it i'll say some moreanywaystime to brush my teeth and stuff________________________________________ ________________________________________ _____03.07.07Fleamail March 7, 2007well i have not written a fleamail in a long timei dont know why i just haven'tjust not in the groove of it guesswe played tonight in des moines, iowai had a lot of fun....i injured my back on a trampoline about a week agoand the last few shows have been painful for mei did a backflip and just had too much momentum and just landed on my spine on a metal bar than ran along the circumferenceouchso anyways, tonight it started feeling better and i felt more free on stagea released kind of feeling so i felt free and goodanthony is battling a cold and it was hard for himit is difficult to get better when you have to play all the time and travel around and put out a lot of energybut if you look up the world trooper in the dictionary you will see a picture of anthony kiedisthings have been good for us overall latelycertainly we have been touring for this stadium arcadium record for a year nowand it is a lotbut the opportunity to connect with so many people over this last year has been fucking coolyesterday it was so snowy when we drove from milwaukee to desmoines that we nearly didnt make itbut we didi saw the greatest dvd todaya concert of art blakey and the jazz messengers from 1958lee morgan on trumpetbenny golson on saxaphonejymie merritt on bassand boby timmons on pianoman it is so amazing to mei think that is my favorite era of jazz and my favorite era and type of music ever that i know ofi mean there is so much music that makes me feel good in different waysbut that art blakey and the jazz mesengers in 1958 with lee morgan i think that it is my favoritenothing can make me feel better i think if was stuck on a deserted island and could one dvd that would be itespecially if i had my trumpet too.........and so amazed and so happy and so inspiredwith spirit inspired with spirit inspired with spiriti love you
