For those who are not familiar with traditional Palestinian weddings, this is what this video is about. The Palestinian village wedding is traditionally divided into few sections. This is the bridegroom parade. The wedding is two days. On the second day morning, the groom is invited to a friends home for the "Bath", this includes bathing the groom and a ceremonial hair cut and a meal. After that comes the Nkoot, the groom's friends give him money and attach it on his suit as a symbol of support in his new life. So after Nkoot his jacket is literary covered with money. He is not supposed to take off this money until he reaches home :)What follows in this video is the Zaffa, the "groom parade", from the groom's friend home to his home. The groom's best man carries a decorated umbrella over him. All the males of the village participate, forming two lines and two singers take turns singing traditional songs in the middle. The groom brothers and relative cheer the men in the middle too. As the parade passes by the village homes, they stop and are offered drinks and sweets. Here, friends and family of the bride and groom clap and chant various phrases which praise the bride and groom and their qualities, talk directly to the groom telling him how lucky he is to be wedding 'this' bride and talk directly to the bride telling her how happy she will be with this groom. It is a chant because the men repeat the few phrases in their song over and over. At some point, those participating in zaffa sing in two groups where one group sings a phrase and the other answers by repeating the phrase or starts a new phrase. During the groom's parade, there is a party for the bride at her home. When the parade ends, the groom goes with relatives to bring his woman in another parade called the "Fardi". This is followed by another party at his home.
