I have always had a bit of a love hate thing going on with the bossa nova, which goes way back, although I am pretty much stuck in the love phase these days. Part of it to do with the fact that bossa is extremely hard to play, it's so subtle the way that Brazilians play it, I can't even begin to do the style justice, so I jazz it up a bit without really trying to incorporate all the traditional harmonies and rhythms.If you want to see how far the jazz changes are from the original just have a peek at Joao Gilberto playing it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6w3a2...
