Maddy wasn't always just a new riding horse. She's been at the riding school even before me! She's a pure standardbred, never raced, but still good. Her show name is Way to Victory and her dam and sire are pretty famous! She use to always be a paddock pal for Indy at the next door neighbour's yard. When I just started riding in 204 I remember seeing her in the paddock we pass, and we'd usually give her a pat.In 2006 term 1, I know that she started being trained in the saddle, by a very good rider and friend of Karren's(my instructor). On Saturday, 13 May 2006 I rode her for the 1st time under saddle in a lesson. This was Term 1/term 2 about. That lesson all she could do was halt, walk, turn and trot. But then it came into jumping in the lesson. It was hard, but we got there! After heeps of mistakes we got it right, even crashing into the jump a few times. This was her 1st jumping experience. After this she got better and better. Saturday, 27 May 2006 I tried to get her cantering, I got close, but it didn't happen, all that did happen was her throwing her head up and walking and muddling her legs up. Saturday, 17 June 2006 was our worst lesson, down pour with rain, Maddy kept on refusing this one jump which got me soo annoyed! But this was the lesson I 1st ever cantered with her! She did it and she did it sooo well, from a mare that didn't know how to canter or jump, only a few weeks later she could go up to 40cm and even canter by following someone.. But this was very hard to do :P. Saturday, 24 June 2006 she blew me away when Amber rode her. They did soo well. They got the show jumping over and done with! It was just awesome: P. In term 3 Maddy got Skin fungas, which just destroyed her neck. It was pretty gross, but I just ignored it. Over that time I rode her again, getting better and better. On Saturday, 5 August 2006 we did another canter, this time much better! She was going really well! The next lesson after that was my last lesson. I couldn't stand her any longer, she was just sooo not right. So I moved onto Jon. Ever since that Maddy was no longer being ridden, she was stuck in a paddock with no one riding her. In term 4 2006, I would stay after horse riding for the day and just muck around with her. Making all happy again. Saturday, 11 November 2006 I rode her for the 1st time in the paddock! Was really fun.. but also hard work, we cantered to :P After that Amber rode Maddy the next lessons. On the Show hunter day everyone was blown away on how big she could jump! Cause JUST at the start of the year she didn't have a clue what a jump was nore what cantering was. Amber still rides Maddy, which is good. As far as I know they got a good bond! Espically that time at the end of the clip when we jumped high! Can't believe that Maddy made it!I just want to point out how far Maddy went since last year. She loves to canter and jump now. Even though not many people rides her, she is still a pretty valuble horse. She surely did teach me something. I bet she taught lots of other people too, she's a very good beginners horse too!
