The Timers - FM Tokyo (1989.10.14)In 1988 rock band 'RC Succession" (RCサクセション) led by Imawano Kiyoshirou (忌野清志郎) announced an album called 'Covers'. However, Toshiba EMI didn't publish the album.Toshiba EMI did a press release giving the reason "The above-mentioned work cannot be put on the market because it was too wonderful".The true reason was pressure from the parent company Toshiba because the album contained an anti-nuclear song. At the time Toshiba was developing a nuclear plant.A band consisiting of 4 mysterious masked people debuted at the rock event held at Fujikyu Highland in Summer 1988. Zerry (vocals & guitar), Toppi (guitar), Bobby (bass), Po (drums).The same summer they performed at a charity concert and performed the song Gizensha (Hypocrite), an anti-war song. The event was broadcast live on NHK and caused a controversy."Covers" was released by Kitty Records (1988.08) and became a large hit, but NHK and Tokyo FM refused to broadcast any of the album.In addition, 'Tanima no Uta' (Ravine Song) is banned from FM Sendai and Tokyo FM, and "Doboku Sagyouin Blues" (Construction Worker Blues) was banned by Tokyo FM. The reason for the banning is not known.Punk rock band Timers, led by Kiyoshirou as "Zerry" perform on the show Yoru no Hit Studio.The second song in their set was supposed to be Gizensha but they deviated from their plan and sang this song instead!
