Hype is a shooter for the MSX that very few people have seen or played. It doesn't have a story plot or eye candy to speak of, but what it shines above else is speed and gameplay. The speed at which enemies approach you can be blinding especially when the enemy is zig-zagging or spinning, making it difficult to hit'em and dodge'em. The video may not represent its full speed, but trust me it's fast, faster than Zanac.I think the furtherest I've ever gone in this game is Zone 8. Enemies just get more aggressive as you progress. I don't know if there is an ending, most likely there isn't. My personal gripe is your ship isn't fast enough by default, because it's usually the reason that gets you killed. Seriously, respawning in the middle of horde of enemies that are faster than you is suicide. All things considered this one the best underrated games on the MSX. I definitely recommend this, especially to any shmup fanatic.In game, you can pickup 6 items. 4 of which are weapons.S = Increase speedX = 1x Life1 = A high-powered version of your default weapon. Very good weapon.2 = Fires a wave that veers slightly to the left or right when you move your ship. Very low-rate of fire.3 = Fires a slow big bullet/boulder. Highest attack power, but long recovery time.4 = Fires shots in front & back. My weapon of choice. Alot enemies like to come from behind you.
