Life Ball 2007
from Hintmag.com:Going well beyond glitter, boas and tucks, Life Ball—held each May in Vienna, Austria—is surely the most extravagant, gay-affirming, AIDS-fighting celebration anywhere in the world. This year, its 15th, costumed onlookers peering from under their fake eyelashes saw spectacles aplenty: special entrances by Mario Testino and amFAR goddess Sharon Stone (straight from Cannes), a live performance by Scissor Sisters, a Broadway-quality fairy tale in four acts (as redundant as CInderella at a drag party may sound), ever-mannish Nadja Auermann accepting an award and a fashion show by Heatherette (previous designers include Westwood, Gaultier, Galliano, Versace and Mugler, the original). It was Hairspray meets Wigstock, tied with a red ribbon. As invited press, we were lucky enough to partake in the weekend-long festivities, starting with a chartered "party plane" that all but burst at the rivets with screaming queens. As usual, once in Vienna, we mostly hung out backstage with our trusty camcorder in tow—sans fake eyelashes.
