That old "Clown Car" is a 1930-31 Model a Ford, and was probably used in a circus, or possibly a Shriner's parade vehicle. There is a painting of a clown on the rear, the back wheels are off-centered in order to make the car go up and down like a jalopy, a cow bell is hanging off the back, also a flagpole. There is a one gallon can fastened to the firewall, which was filled with oil, a line is run down to the exhaust manifold in order to make it smoke. There is a vacuum whistle mounted on the intake manifold. The original old ahoogah horn is there as well. The long silver bus is a 1942 Mack, and was made for the U.S. Navy in World War 2. After the war it was turned over to the "Bureau of Indian Affairs", and came out of Arizona. It has a raised roof for adults to stand up. Those chassis's are late 1980's Chevrolet 1 ton, with the hard to find narrow rear ends. These were special ordered by Frito-Lay, and were used in their small tractor-trailer rigs. They have straight frame rails, which work out great on building streetrods. The short two tone schoolbus is a 1937 Chevy, and I got it in Missouri. I will be making myself a motorhome out of it, and will use one of these 1-ton Chevrolet chassis's. Should be an easy swap, by just lengthning or shortning the frame rails. That way I will have modern suspension, brakes, engine, steering, etc. The bus beside it is a 1938 International. It came off an Indian Reservation school in New Mexico. It still has a 1966 license plate, and interesting Native American graffiti inside. This bus, and the 1942 Mack, I came across not too far from the Pate Swap Meet in Fort Worth, Texas. The last bus originally came out of Springfield, Oregon, where someone made a motor home out of it in 1949. They then made a trip all around the U.S. in it, writing down the name of each stop along the way on the side of the bus, and with a date. They finally ended up in a town of the same name, Springfield, Missouri, where they actually lived in this bus for a long time. In the HBO Mini-Series "Carnivale", there was an old school bus almost identical to this one used in the movie. The movie was about a dustbowl era traveling carnival, and a couple of fortune tellers were living in the bus. Great series.
